Integrating and Configuring Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) with SharePoint

Getting Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to play nicely and integrate with SharePoint can prove to be a little tricky.

There is some information out on the web on how to integrate and configure SSRS with SharePoint though below are links to the best I have found.

WinSmarts – installing and setting up SQL and Reporting Services.

Microsoft SharePoint Team Blog – Integrating SSRS with MOSS and WSS.

Mike Walsh – How not to install Reporting Services.

Microsoft’s requirements for running Reporting Services in SharePoint Integrated mode.

By far the best source of information for installing and configuring SSRS with SharePoint I’ve come across is this step by step document generated by Microsoft themselves.

Hello, i am a developer from Windward Reports, and we hear these types of complaints about crystal all the time. Alot of our customers are converts from crystal and after one look at our product they never go back, because its so easy to use and makes the perfect report in a fraction of the time.

If you are sick of the complexity and confusion associated with crystal and there lack of a WYSIWYG editor, than consider our reporting software. It is an add-in to Microsoft office, and lets the user see exactly how the template will be formatted. There is no learning curve because all the formatting is done in Microsoft office !

We have an easy to use database connection wizard, that automatically saves your most recent database connections. It supports every major db vendor, and allows for multiple connections to more than one db.

We have a SQL select wizard that walks the user through building complex select queries, no sql experience required.

We have a tag builder that lets the user custom define tags and easily drag and drop into the template.

We fully support Word, Excel and Powerpoint. And all major output formats (pdf, html, doc, docx, rtf, xlsx, xls, pptx, direct to a printer)

If you are interested goto our website and get a free trial copy of our software. In addition to our microsoft add-in we have a command line java and .net engine that can be incorporated in your software.
