VMware vSphere ‘Unofficial’ Network Card Compatibility Matrix

There has been quite a bit of discussion on a few of my vSphere lab posts around what network cards work (and don’t work) with the various versions of VMware ESX/ESXi.  As such I thought it useful to put together a VMware vSphere Network Card Compatibility Matrix which I will keep populated with the details of those network cards I own and know to work with the various versions of VMware ESX/ESXi.  I will add this post to the site’s list of permanent pages here at the top of the page as a resource for others.

VMware vSphere Network Card Compatibility MatrixLet’s make this matrix a useful community project so feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of this post (template below) with details on those network cards that you have found to work or not work, I will add them to this compatibility matrix.  Of course, this matrix will contain those network cards both on and off of the official VMware hardware compatibility matrix which can be found here.
