Well here we are, another VMworld is almost upon us. With VMworld San Francisco, comes another opportunity to hold a vBeers Community meet up, where myself and fellow vGeeks get a chance to catch up and talk with our peers and friends, new and old.
This year vBeers VMworld is back at The Chieftain Irish Bar on 5th Street (about a 5 minute walk from the Moscone) which has proven to be a great place to hold it over the past few years. For more details on when, where and how check out the official vBeers site here.
As I write this post 152 people have already indicated they will be attending, so this is going to be a fantastic turn-out, with vBeers VMworld going from strength to strength every year. The Chieftain will be making extra space for us to accommodate the increased number of people, though I’d recommend getting there early to get a good spot.
This year I’ve decided to do something a little extra to help promote vBeers and most importantly to have some extra fun. So I will be bringing along vBeers beer mats/coasters, stickers (that every discerning vGeek should have on their laptop) and, for the first time ever you’ll be able to get your geek chic on with a vBeers t-shirt!
I’m really pleased with how the shirts came out, and have ordered various sizes to accommodate the varying shapes and sizes of the vGeek community – of course with most of them on the slightly larger sized for the fuller figured virtualization enthusiast.
Obviously there is a cost associated with producing these t-shirts, which is far more than my personal budget could handle, so I reached out internally here at EMC (disclosure: I work at EMC) and managed to gain funding for the shirts. The EMC team were more than happy to help support the virtualization community, so a massive thanks to Bharat and the team from Global Solutions Marketing for helping make this happen.
There has been a limited run of the vBeers shirts made, so in the interests of fairness the first 100 people through the door (from 6PM) will get a t-shirt (1 t-shirt per person). If you get a t-shirt please wear it during the week (and afterwards) to help spread the word around the Community goodness that is vBeers. If you’re not attending VMworld San Francisco this year, though would like a vBeers t-shirt, do not worry – I will be running a competition in the coming weeks to give a way a number of the shirts. Watch this space for details.
Important Note: Although EMC kindly sponsored the manufacturing of the vBeers t-shirts they are not sponsoring the event, so it is still a case of paying for your own drinks.
Hope to see you at The Chieftain on Saturday evening for some great conversation, networking and a quiet drink. Cheers!
