Not quite sure how this happened but I suddenly lost all of my sound on my PC. After checking the basics like the physical headphone socket connection (which was ok) I thought I’d maybe inadvertently muted the sound within Vista. Looking for the sound icon in the bottom right hand side of the screen I saw that it was missing…. Strange.
So to get the missing sound icon back again I performed the following steps.
2. Next, select the ‘Notification Area’ tab and check/tick the ‘Volume’ option under the ‘System icons’ section. As you can see this area can also be used to enabled/disable the ‘Clock’, ‘Network’ and ‘Power’ (laptops) icons.
I then saw the Volume icon again which allowed me to un-mute (not sure why it suddenly muted itself in the first place) the sound to my headphones.
Quite a basic little problem but thought it worthy of a quick posting in case others also experience this issue.
